Checked the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance website last night, and found that the pride of the Oldham County GOP, J.D. Sparks, in now listed as a candidate for the 5th Magisterial District race in the Republican primary.
Unless someone challenges his fitness to even run for elective office, let alone serve, this should be an interesting primary to say the least.
I received a very well thought out email from a follower that is passionate about doing whatever it takes to defeat Sparks. This person, a military veteran, says that Sparks has brought shame to those who have and do serve this country by his actions documented in his assault on the LEO Weekly reporter last year at the Lincoln Day Dinner in Louisville.
The betting line here says that current Magistrate Iva Davis will soundly defeat Sparks in the primary, and send him back into the deep, dark shadows of politics that he emerged from.
So, I urge everyone in the 5th District to get out and vote AGAINST this egotistical candidate come May 18th, 2010.

I received a phone call informing me that you're back Mr. Observer, and we couldn't be more pleased. Your absence has been far too long.
ReplyDeleteThe other local bloggers have apparently ceased operations, with the exception of Dewey Wotring. The oldhamcountytcb.com site (Scott Black) is inactive; the oldhamcountywired.com site (Scott Hack) has been dormant since last September, and we all know that the Watchdog, as Dewey likes to call himself, is nothing more than a pulpit to promote Scott Davis (way too many Scott's LOL) and apparently now, Sparks, and of course, his ramblings on things that appear to make him seem important to us and himself. Which is not the case for many of us. At least you give us insight, other sources and allow us to post comments, and we appreciate that.
All that being said, as far as Sparks goes, Anne Gerstein, the GOP party chair, if she had any relevance, would meet with Sparks and ask him on behalf of our party to withdraw his name from the ballot in May. After reading all of the information about him you made available, and watching the reporter's video, I too, am convinced he should not be elected to anything.
Sparks, an lowly underling at best within the party, is someone I'd never heard of until this incident of his assault happened. Now that I know more about him, I too, encourage all republicans in the 5th district to band together to guarantee he won't win. Not that Davis is much of a magistrate, but she is the better choice for us in this race.
Glad you're back, keep up the good work, and I look forward to visiting often to read your thoughts.
The party chairman can not make anyone quit or withdraw regardless of their opinion of the candidate's chances or image. Sorry folks that's just the way it goes. Anyone can run, in either party.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, you are correct in your statement. I think that "Goshen" is simply making the point that to save face for the local GOP, they think the party chair should suggest to Sparks that he withdraw. For example, with all the negative publicity that McConnell and Bunning have been bringing Kentucky lately, the local party would probably be best served for him to withdraw from the race. I'm not the only one going negative on Sparks, and for good reason apparently. Time will tell how this plays out...it ought to be interesting. Maybe in the end, Sparks will realize after he loses, that it wasn't a wise move on his part to run, considering the baggage he brought to the campaign. One can't always hide from their past.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Glad you're following the blogsite !
